It is the mission of NJAMC to increase awareness
regarding the ethnic and cultural
diversity present in
our communities,
and to use this
awareness to aid
the development of
cultural competence within
the counseling profession.
What Do We Do?
We attempt to support our mission through professional discourse and training. Our current membership has identified the following goals:
- To enhance the probability of success in counseling encounters by providing NJCA members, NJAMC members and counselors at large with a better understanding of individual and group diversity.
- To create opportunities for enhancing cultural competence and multicultural counseling skills development.
- To improve the quality of life for counselors, clients and our community by providing access to information regarding issues of diversity and multiculturalism.
- To advocate, support and empower individuals, organizations and institutions to overcome existing cultural barriers.
