As a member of the NJCA, you join professional counselors across New Jersey in a variety of settings who are making a difference. NJCA is run almost entirely by volunteers, all of whom are LPCs, LACs, students, counselor educators, or retirees. NJCA cannot achieve its mission without these important volunteers. Therefore, we encourage you to get involved in NJCA by participating on the NJCA Board, or on one of the various committees. We also welcome your involvement in your Divisions/ Special Interest Groups which may help to strengthen your knowledge in your area of specialization.

Continuing education units, or CEUs, are awarded by many education and training providers to signify successful completion of non-credit programs and courses intended to improve the knowledge and skills of working adults.
Annual Conference
Discounts on NJCA’s annual conference where you’ll receive special workshops by counselors and graduate students on legal matters, mental health, the latest techniques, research findings, special populations, and more.
Special Programs

Special division workshops are offered throughout the year to provide training in specialized topics outside of traditional training programs.
Ethics Consultations
Ethical issues in counseling are challenging to handle on your own. Members receive free ethical advice from the Association.
New Counselor Mentoring
Free mentorship is provided to new members and seasoned members on navigating the profession and exploring networking possibilities.” Members also receive advocacy on behalf of our members as individuals and as a collective.
Types of Membership

NJCA has regular and professional membership options available based on your credentials and levels of service. Select a membership option to apply.
NJCA Membership levels include:
Regular Membership
Basic Membership
Professional Membership
Newly Graduated Professionals or Licensed Counselors
Student Membership
Masters or Doctoral Students
Retiree Membership
Retired from the Counseling Profession
Regular Membership
Basic membership with NJCA. Includes persons whose interests and activities are consistent with those of the Association, but who are not qualified for Professional membership.
Professional Membership
Can be offered to those who hold a Master’s Degree or higher in counseling or a closely related field from a college or university that was accredited when the degree was awarded by one of the regional accrediting bodies recognized by the Council on Post-Secondary Accreditation.
Professional members must present proof of academic credentials upon request and can be eligible for Emeritus or Retired membership
Student Membership
Student membership is offered to regular members who are Graduate Students in Counseling or a closely related field who is not employed more than half-time as a professional counselor.
Retiree Membership
Retired Individuals who have previously been in the counseling profession, but who are now retired from the counseling profession.
